Juror’s pick: NORTHERN LOWLAND
Technical director Kenneth Warner has selected NORTHERN LOWLAND by Klaus Welp as his top pick this year. This surreal and kinetic music video follows three mysterious characters travelling through the empty streets of Helsinki in winter. Nominated for our Best Director award! See the Ottawa premiere in INTERNATIONAL SELECTIONS on Sat. July 27th @ 2pm at Arts Court Theatre, co-presented by Carleton University Art Gallery.
Juror’s pick: DRAWN TO YOU
Front of house manager Renuka Bauri has selected DRAWN TO YOU by Eleanor Davitt as her top pick this year. This heartwarming animation is about an aspiring young artist whose mother finds her drawing of two girls holding hands and tears it in half. But the drawings come alive and are determined to reunite, no matter the risk. A celebration of the struggles and joys that come with being true to your heart. Don’t miss the Ottawa premiere screening in LINES DRAWN on Sat. July 27th @ 6pm at Arts Court Theatre.
Juror’s pick: SNOWBALL TREASURY
Special guest juror Lisa Jodoin has selected THE SNOWBALL TREASURY as her top pick this year. In this unique and playful documentary, colourful tales of the Klondike Gold Rush are told by the current residents of Dawson City. Catch the Ontario premiere screening in TRUE STORIES, Sat. Festival director Christopher Rohde has selected RIPLIST as his top pick this year. RIPLIST follows a group of friends that get together once a year and draft celebrities they think might die.
