MMFF receives City of Ottawa support

We’re honoured to announce that the City of Ottawa’s Arts Funding program has awarded Mirror Mountain Film Festival a grant to help us put on our 2023 festival. Their generous assistance will give us essential resources for presenting our 6th edition, and help us to support independent film and video artists from the Ottawa region and beyond. Our sincere thanks to the Arts Funding program for nurturing local festivals and nonprofits!

Meet our team: Jess Maybear

Introducing our new board member! Ottawa stage designer, stage manager and longtime MMFF jury member extraordinaire Jess Maybear is joining Mirror Mountain’s volunteer board of directors. Jess will help the festival grow as we continue to expand and learn more and more about the world of non-profit organizations. We’re very happy to have them on our team!

Meet our team: Efehan Elbi

Introducing our new jury! Canadian director, animator and game designer Efehan Elbi is joining our interactive media selection committee. For the first time ever, Mirror Mountain Film Festival is accepting submissions of works that allow the audience to participate directly, including VR, explorable 360° video spaces, videogames, AR, film/video installations, net art and more. Efehan will help us choose an interactive piece that will be displayed in the festival lounge at our next edition! A playable demo of IN COLD DARK, an existential space adventure game created by Efehan and done\undone, premiered at Mirror Mountain as part of our 2019 festival. We’re thrilled to be working with them again!

Meet our team: Lisa Birke

Introducing our new jury! Canadian media artist Lisa Birke will be a part of our first ever interactive media selection committee. Mirror Mountain Film Festival is currently accepting submissions from anywhere in the world of works that allow the audience to participate directly, including VR, explorable 360° video spaces, playable videogames, film/video installations, net art and more. Lisa will lend her expertise to help us select an interactive media piece for temporary exhibition in the lounge at the next edition of our festival. Her 360° video THE LAND OF MILK AND HONEY was featured at Mirror Mountain as part of our 2021 edition. We’re excited to work with her again, and to welcome her to our team!

Amanda performed at Mirror Mountain in 2019 as a member of Novusolis, alongside local media artist VJ Cinetik. We’re very happy to be working with them again!
