Christopher Rohde is a filmmaker, musician and curator from Ottawa. His video The Pink Ghosts (2006) was screened across Canada and was one of the first films selected for EnRoute, Air Canada’s in-flight film festival. Odd One Out (2014) was screened at festivals internationally and won awards for Best Film by an Emerging Filmmaker at the Jasper Short Film and Media Arts Festival and Best Director (Experimental) at the Ottawa Independent Video Awards. Christopher received his M.A. in Film Studies from Carleton University in 2007. He was a member of Available Light Screening Collective from 2006 – 2013, and Programmer at SAW Video Media Art Centre from 2010 – 2015, where he curated dozens of screenings, installations, exhibitions, performances and other projects. In 2014, he founded Mirror Mountain Film Festival, a platform for celebrating unique creative voices.

Celebrating 10 years

October 6th 2024 marks the 10th anniversary of our founding in 2014. We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the artists, audience members, technicians, volunteers, local businesses, sponsors, funders and friends that made our journey possible. Here’s hoping our future is as bright as out past!

Earlybird submissions deadline coming soon

Mirror Mountain’s earlybird submissions deadline is coming up soon on Monday July 15. We’re looking for diverse, unconventional and innovative films from every genre, including documentary, drama, animation, experimental, music video, dance, interactive media and much, much more. Submit and share your unique vision with us!

Remembering Eric Archambault

Everyone at Mirror Mountain is deeply saddened about the passing of our dear friend and community member Eric Archambault. Eric was an ardent supporter and attendee of our festival for nearly a decade, and was always curious to see what other artists were making.  We had the honour of presenting a live performance by Eric Remembering Eric Archambault

Submissions now open

Mirror Mountain Film Festival is now welcoming submissions for our 7th edition! We want to see the most groundbreaking, unconventional and alternative films from every genre, including drama, documentary, animation, experimental, music video, dance film and much more. Short, medium-length and feature-length films are eligible to apply. We’re also welcoming submissions of interactive media for exhibition in our festival lounge. Submit your work and be a part of the action!

Are you an independent filmmaker with a unique creative voice? Mirror Mountain Film Festival is officially opening for submissions next Monday, February 12th, and we want to see the most offbeat, outrageous, innovative and original films out there. Ottawa-based Oji-Cree electronic musician Jakean will be collaborating with local experimental audiovisual artist Annie Socoria to kick off our 2023 festival with an immersive, original live experience.
