Submissions now open

Mirror Mountain Film Festival is now welcoming submissions for our 7th edition! We want to see the most groundbreaking, unconventional and alternative films from every genre, including drama, documentary, animation, experimental, music video, dance film and much more. Short, medium-length and feature-length films are eligible to apply. We’re also welcoming submissions of interactive media for exhibition in our festival lounge. Submit your work and be a part of the action!

Submissions open February 12

Are you an independent filmmaker with a unique creative voice? Mirror Mountain Film Festival is officially opening for submissions next Monday, February 12th, and we want to see the most offbeat, outrageous, innovative and original films out there. Shorts, medium-length and feature-length films in all genres are welcome, and so are interactive media artworks! We’ve also lowered our fees a little from last year, and submission is always free for alumni and local filmmakers. Visit our Submissions page for more info.

Help Mirror Mountain and Being Studio support our artists

We are proud to partner with Being Studio on a special fundraising drive this May 1 – 31. Together, we hope to raise a total of $8000 to help support our artists.

  • 50% of funds raised will go directly to paying artists in this summer’s festival, happening July 21 – 23 at LabO Theatre
  • 50% of funds raised will be donated to Being Studio to support its ongoing operations

Being Studio is an Ottawa charity that creates opportunities for artists with developmental disabilities to explore visual art-making and creative writing, by providing access to the space, tools and representation needed to achieve their unique goals.

Our organizations believe that regardless of their medium of expression, artists make a valuable contribution to the cultural life of this city, and deserve to be given a platform and the means to create.

By making a contribution to our fundraising campaign, not only will you help foster local arts and culture, but you can also receive great rewards, like festival passes, special thanks on our website, a tax receipt, a beautifully-designed poster and sticker, and a Being Studio t-shirt and tote bag.
